Dear colleagues,
On behalf of the Australia & Aotearoa New Zealand Gastric & Oesophageal Surgery Association (AANZGOSA), we are delighted to invite you to the AANZGOSA Annual Scientific Meeting 2026. This will be held in the beautiful city of Hobart with the conference venue overlooking the waterfront.
We are combing with GI Cancer Trials (formerly AGITG) for the first day. This allows us to offer a full oncology day, featuring a dynamic, immersive, and collaborative program covering key areas and controversies.
This is a rare and unmissable opportunity where we will have a critical mass of clinicians and researchers from the key disciplines all at the one location.
Our convenors Adam Frankel and Andrew Barbour have worked closely with co convenors from the GI Cancer Trials, Margaret Lee and Sina Vatandoust to ensure the program remains relevant to all and address key issues.
We are also delighted to have secured high profile international surgical and oncology visitors:
- Professor Tim Underwood a leading oesophago-gastric cancer surgeon and researcher from Southampton UK
- Dr Elena Elimova a medical oncologist from Toronto, Canada with expertise in immunotherapies and clinical trials
Our international visitors will be joined by national experts across all fields relevant to multidisciplinary care of our patients.
The second day will feature a broad range of surgically focused topics relevant to the complexities of OG practice.
Meeting Dates:
- 25 November 2026: Pre conference early career surgeons operative workshop (limited spaces available)
- 26 November 2026 (Day 1): Joint program in collaboration with GI Cancer Trials
- 27 November 2026 (Day 2): AANZGOSA scientific program
We warmly encourage your participation and look forward to welcoming you to Hobart and encourage you to also enjoy the many other activities that the conference and location provide.
Warm regards,
Paul Burton President, AANZGOSA
Adam Frankel (AANZGOSA convenor)
Andrew Barbour (AANZGOSA convenor)
Margaret Lee (GI Cancer Trials convenor)
Sina Vatandoust (GI Cancer Trials convenor)
